Hover any sub-national region for its name and SCI score. Click to open the country's profile. Use the year slider to track sub-national corruption from 1995 to 2022. Region boundaries are from the Global Data Lab.
Source: Subnational Corruption Database v1.0 (Crombach & Smits 2024); region boundaries from the Global Data Lab. Polygons are shaded using data-driven quantile bins computed once across the indicator's full panel (all regions, all years), so the breakpoints are fixed and movement across years is comparable. Higher scores mean cleaner governance for every indicator (0 = most corrupt for SCI / SGCI / SPCI / SUB-CPI; SUB-CCI runs roughly -2.5 to +2.5). Grey regions are not in the SCD's coverage for the selected indicator/year.

The SCD uses the Global Data Lab's regional classification where available. If you have GDL shapefiles, the key file below maps GDL region codes to SCD region codes for producing your own maps.

GDL shapefiles themselves require a free Global Data Lab account: globaldatalab.org/mygdl/downloads. The GDL and SCD regional definitions coincide mostly but not fully - see the data descriptor for details.
